This exquisite antique German hallmarked 800 silver 18 piece cutlery set was made by Jager & Co. of Viersen, Germany and consists of 6x each dinner knives, dinner forks and table spoons. The handles of the cutlery are engraved with the initials "SS".
The cutlery set is hallmarked as follows: The makers mark is a kneeling rifleman/ marksman confirming it was made by Jager & Co. of Viersen, Germany after 1923, the German Reichsmark of the Halbmond und Krone (Crested moon and crown) and the 800 standard mark confirming the set is 800 silver which was widely used in Europe in the 18th, 19th century and early part of the 20th century.
The modern classic styled cutlery set weighs a significant 1.165kg. The knives are 21cm long, the forks are 19cm long and the spoons are 19cm long.
There is minimal/ normal age and usage related wear and tear and scuffs which could easily be polished out. This is a stunning cutlery set and the flatware is visually appealing.
