This beautiful and extremely rare antique Ansonia Clock Company of USA "El Dara" black slate mantle clock measures a decent 35cm long x 14cm wide x 36cm tall and weighs an incredible 13.945kg. The clock was manufactured by the American Clock Company of New York, USA (Ansonia) and the clock mechanism is dated June 14, 81 (1881). The clock has a magnificent Roman themed cast metal frieze across the top of the mantle clock with a gold gilt and enamelled clock face and Roman numerals. This mantle clock has two gear trains and gongs on the half hour and hour intervals. The winding key is included.
This stunning clock is a beautiful example of the antique Victorian era black slate mantle clocks. There are a few small chips as shown in the pics, but it adds to the originality of this 140 year old clock.
As with all clocks, we highly recommend that they be serviced as soon as possible to get the full enjoyment out of them. These clock mechanisms are sensitive and moving them about shifts the mechanism. The clock is working but has stood for many years.
Please view the pics carefully to fully appreciate this amazing Ansonia mantle clock and to confirm the condition.
