This spectacular original signed Don Madge (Donald James Madge 1920 - 1997) framed oil on board landscape painting of a homestead measures 40.5cm wide x 45.5cm high (in the frame) and roughly 24cm wide x 29.5cm high (ex-frame). One can see why his work is so highly prized and as most art collectors will tell you that a collection is not complete without a Don Madge piece. Don Madge was a visual artist so most of his art was done in the field on an easel. This is a magnificent painting framed in a beautiful broad frame. The frame should ideally be replaced. From the internet: Don Madge (1920 - 1997); a painter and a graphic artist of landscapes, seascapes, portraits and still life. He worked mainly in pastel, oil, watercolour, ink, pencil, charcoal and various graphic mediums. He travelled extensively throughout South Africa exhibiting his artwork. He participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions in South Africa. He also exhibited while touring in Australia, England and wales. He had a collaborate exhibition with Errol Boyely and WH Coetzer in 1959 at the Durban art gallery.
