This exceptionally rare antique hallmarked George V sterling silver engraved Cheroot cigar case has the original Butterscotch Amber internal Cheroot holder which has a hallmarked 9ct gold band around the top. The holder measures 7cm long x 1.5cm wide and has a hinged lid. A cheroot is a short cigar with both ends open.
The hallmarks are as follows: The sterling silver case has the J&V makers stamp confirming it was made by Villiers & Jackson Silversmiths, The anchor Assay mark confirming it was made in Birmingham, the Lion Passant mark confirming it is British Sterling silver (925) and the date letter mark "r" confirming it was made in 1916. The gold band hallmarks are as follows: The J&V makers stamp confirming it was made by Villiers & Jackson Silversmiths, the finesse stamp 9 .375 confirming it is 9 carat gold, the horizontal anchor Assay mark confirming it was made in Birmingham and the date letter mark "r" confirming it was made in 1916.
