In the early nineteenth century, Captain Jan Brandt went to Lourenco Marques to put his gold on a ship. At the harbor he meets Vasco Da Gama and they soon become friends. Vasco gives Jan, as a gift, a bottle of his Peri Peri sauce. Jan enjoys the bottle of hot sauce a lot and starts making plans to make his own sauce. On the way back home near Hectorspruit, on Annie Louw's farm, he gets the most delicious big mangoes as a gift. At his house in Kaapschehoop he devises a brilliant plan to put mangoes in his hot sauce and Voila! Captain Brandt's unique Mango Peri Peri sauce was born.
The Captain and his pals enjoy it with their steak and chops when they braai.
